PETERSBURG, VA- The Chowan University men's tennis team came up short in a 5-1 decision against Shaw University on Saturday afternoon.  The Hawks finish as the CIAA Tournament runner-up for the second straight season with the loss and await a potential at-large Atlantic Regional bid. 

The Bears grabbed two out of the three doubles matches as Charles Silva/Sergio Cuartas edged Danilo Galovic/Pedro Aiala 8-4 in the number one position and Juan Sanchez/Bach Tran defeated Tristan Martin/Sasha Kirsanov 9-8 (7-3).  Ivan Doubograev/Farid Hajizada topped Andre Monti/Gafur Sirojiddinov 8-3 to give the Hawks some momentum heading into singles competition.   

In singles play, Sanchez blanked Martin 6-0, 6-0 at the number four position.   Kirsanov fell short in a 6-2, 6-2 decision against Tran in the number three spot while Cuartas defeated Aiala 6-1, 6-2 to secure the victory for Shaw.
