PETERBURG, VA- The Chowan University men's tennis team blanked Virginia State 9-0 on Thursday afternoon in CIAA Northern Division play. The Hawks improve to 15-8 overall and 8-1 in league play with the victory while the Trojans slip to 6-6 on the year and 4-6 against CIAA competition.
Chowan swept Virginia State in doubles and singles competition as each Hawks in the line-up earned a victory.
Farid Hajizada earned a 6-1, 6-3 win in the number one singles position.
Pedro Aiala topped Nick Brown 6-3, 6-1 in the number two spot.
Tristan Martin and
Danilo Galovic earned tiebreaker victories over their opponents in the number three and four singles spots respectively while
Sasha Kirsanov and
Carlos Ramirez clinched wins for the Blue and White in the fifth and sixth positions.
In doubles play, Aiala/Galovic teamed up for an 8-3 win while Hajizada/Doubograev and Martin/Kirsanov secured victories as well.
The Hawks return to action on Saturday when they host Virginia Union in a CIAA Northern Division match-up. First serve is slated for 1:00pm.
