MURFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University men's tennis team earned their seventh consecutive victory on Sunday afternoon with an exciting 5-4 win over Edinboro University. Prior to Sunday's contest, the Fighting Scots held a #4 ranking according to the ITA Atlantic Region polls while the Hawks were #5. Chowan improves to 11-5 on the season with the win while Edinboro slips to 8-7.
The Hawks started off hot with three doubles victories to take an early 3-0 lead.

Sasha Kirsanov defeated their opponents 8-5 while
Farid Hajizada/
Ivan Doubograev teamed up for an 8-3 win.
Hajizada, the #8 ranked singles player in the region, earned a hard fought 6-1, 6-4 win over Matias Aignasse, the current #3 player according to last week's ITA poll. Hajizada improved to 15-1 in singles play on the season with the victory.
Aiala, Kirsanov, Douobraev and Galovic all battled but fell to their opponents in singles play. With the match on the line, Martin fought back after dropping the first set 7-5 against Juan Estepa. He topped Estepa 6-3 in the second set before securing the win for the Hawks with a 7-6 win in the tiebreaker.
Chowan returns to action on Wednesday when they host Norfolk State University at 2:30pm.
