PETERSBURG, VA- The Chowan University men's tennis team earned a hard fought 5-4 win over Shaw University on Friday afternoon. The Bears' setback against the Hawks was their first regular season loss against a CIAA opponent in eight years. The victory moves Chowan to 6-5 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
The Hawks took two out of three against the Bears in doubles play as

Danilo Galovic defeated Charles Silva/Sergio Cuartas 9-7 and
Farid Hajizada/
Ivan Doubograev picked up an 8-5 win over Andre Monti/Gafur Sirojiddinov. Juan Sanchez/Back Tran topped
Sasha Kirsanov/
Tristan Martin 8-5.
Hajizada, Martin and Doubograev each collected narrow victories in singles play to secure the 5-4 win for the Hawks.
Chowan's match against Shaw scheduled for March 15
th has been postponed. A make-up date and time will be released as it is determined. The Hawks return to their home court on Sunday to take on Lenoir-Rhyne in an 11:00am match.
