HILTON HEAD, SC- The Chowan University men's tennis team earned their fifth victory on the season with a 6-3 win over West Liberty on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks now stand with an even 5-5 record on the season.
Chowan took two out of the three doubles matches against West Liberty as Ivan Doubrograev/
Farid Hajizada and
Tristan Martin/
Sasha Kirsanov topped their opponents 8-2 and 8-1 respectively.
Pedro Aiala/
Danilo Galovic dropped an 8-4 decision in doubles competition.
Aiala and Hajizada were victorious in singles play along with Martin and
Carlos Ramirez. Hajizada earned a 7-5, 6-4 win over Andrew Ponder while Aiala notched a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Alex Hayden. Martin topped Nick Conforti 6-2, 6-1 and Ramirez earned a 6-1, 6-1 win against Zach Kirkwood to secure the 6-3 victory for the Hawks.
Chowan will take on Shaw University twice this weekend in Petersburg, VA as part of the CIAA Round-Up.
