Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University baseball team moved to 1-6 after dropping a doubleheader to East Stroudsburg University on Saturday afternoon at Hawkins Field. The Hawks dropped the first game of the doubleheader 7-5 and lost the night cap 5-4. ESU improves to 5-0 after Saturday's wins.
The Hawks battled in the first game after out hitting the Warriors with nine hits to five hits.
Ryan Moore started the game and went five innings on the mound. Moore gave up three hits, four earned runs, while striking out six warrior batters before retiring in the fifth inning.

Evan Holton. East Stroudsburg struck back with a four-run third inning after Chris Knott drilled a bases loaded triple to center field. The Hawks wouldn't stay down long. In their next at-bat they answered with four runs of their own to take a 5-4 lead.
Chowan wouldn't hold that lead long as ESU answered in the top of the 4
th inning when Eric Fourth led the inning off with a double. Nico Delerme followed that up with a double to score Fourth and tie the game at 5-5. Eric Linares doubled to right center field in the top of the 6
th inning, scoring two runs to bust the tie for a 7-5 lead. The Hawks were unable to yield any runs in their final two at-bats to suffer the 7-5 loss.
Carter Siweck suffered the loss in the game after throwing the sixth inning. He gave up two runs in the 6
th inning for the loss.
Will Gurganus threw the last inning of the game, giving up a hit and striking out two batters.
Stephen Hux talled two hits and drove in two runs in the first game.
Josh Catalano went 1-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

The Hawks scored runs in the second and third innings of game two to take a 2-0 lead over ESU. The Warriors answered quickly after scoring two runs in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at 2-2.

Ryan Moore who legged out a double in the bottom of the fifth inning to break up the 2-2 tie and gain a one run advantage.
Josh Catalano followed Hunter's at-bat with a double down the left field line scoring Hunter and giving the Hawks a 4-2 lead through five innings.
ESU answered with a run in their next at-bat to cut the CU lead to 4-3. The Hawks failed to add to their run tally in the 6
th inning and went into the 7
th with a narrow one run lead. ESU's Chris Knott hammered a two run homer in the top of the 7
th to give ESU a 5-4 advantage over the Hawks.
The Hawks tallied six hits in the game with Hunter going 2-4 with two runs batted in and a run scored. Catalano went 1-2 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI.
The Hawks will wrap up the four game series with East Stroudsburg on Sunday, February 23
rd at Hawkins Field. First pitch is slated for 12:00pm.
