MURFREESBORO - The CU men's tennis suffered a tough loss to West Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks picked up one doubles win and two wins on the singles side but fell 6-3 in the non-conference match up. Chowan drops to 4-7 on the year after Saturday's loss.
CU's
Sasha Kirsanov and
Ivan Doubograev picked up an 8-4 doubles win in the second seeded doubles match. On the singles side,
Pedro Aiala and
Danilo Galovic outlasted their opponents at the #1 and #4 singles mactches but it was WVWU who would go away with the win.
Aiala hung on to beat Douglas Oliviero 4-6, 6-4 (10-8) at the #1 singles spot. Doubograev dropped the #2 singles match to Ed Cusevs 7-5, 6-2 while Kirsanov lost 6-1, 6-0 to Aitor Roparaz in the #3 singles.
Galovic took the first set against WVWU's Nathan Saville 6-4 but dropped the second set 2-6. He edged Saville in a third set tie break 7-6 (8) to take the match.
Scott Van Eck dropped the #5 singles match 6-0, 6-0 to Joel Izquierdo while Jaquese Williams fell to Jack Walden in the #6 singles match, 6-3, 6-1.
