Box Score MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University baseball team evened their overall record at 18-18 after taking two games in a CIAA doubleheader against Lincoln University this afternoon. Chowan won with game scores of 13-1 and 12-4 to improve to 9-4 in the CIAA. Chowan slugged out 29 hits in the doubleheader and held the Lions to 12 hits on the day.
After getting a run in their first at-bat, the Hawks exploded for 11 runs in the 3rd and 4th innings to put the game away. The 3rd inning was highlighted with RBI hits from
Brandon Mack,
Justin Bagbey, and
Dallas Perdue. They kept the momentum going in their next at-bat and scored seven runs on seven hits. Bagbey and Perdue garned RBI doubles and
Ryan Moore legged out a triple.
Lincoln scored their lone run in the 5th inning. Kevin CiCali was 3-3 with an RBI in the game for Lincoln.
Brett Garrett pitched the win on the mound. He threw 5.0 innings and gave up a run on five hits. He also fanned four Lion batters.
Tyler Ross threw the last two innings in relief. Garrett improves to 5-2 on the year after the win.
Chowan used an eight-run third inning to get on top the Lions in the second game. The Hawks put up three more runs in the 5th inning to roll to the 12-4 win. Bagbey was perfect in game two at 3-3 with four RBI, including a two run homerun. Mack also homered in the game and ended the game at 3-5 with three RBI.
Josh Catalano was 2-3 with three runs scored.
Justin Shockley knocked in two runs and went 1-3 at the plate.
Brett Overton and
Evan Seymour added two hits each in the win.
Lincoln was led by Stephen Smith who went 2-3 with an RBI.
