Box Score WILSON, NC - Barton College handed the Hawks an 11-3 loss in a nonconference match up this evening. Barton College pitching held Chowan to just six hits in the game. The Hawks took an early 3-0 lead in the game but Barton bounced back to score three runs in the bottom of the third inning to knot the game at 3-3. The Bulldogs went on to shut down Chowan's offensive attack and score eight more runs of their own for the 11-3 win. The Hawks fall to 16-18 overall after tonight's game.
Ryan Bradshaw silenced the Bulldog bats in their first two at-bats. He got help at the plate as Chowan scored a run in each of their first three at-bats. But that 3-0 lead wouldn't last long as the Bulldogs posted three runs of their own in their third at-bat to knot the game.
Barton pitching went to work to shut down Chowan over the next six innings to take the win. Bradshaw pitched 5 innings. He gave up nine hits and four earned runs. He also struck out seven Bulldog batters.
Anthony O'Brien and
Evan Hart pitched in relief of Bradshaw.
Josh Catalano continued to swing the bat well for the Hawks. He had half of the team's total six hits after going 3-5 with a run scored and an RBI.
Ryan Moore had a hit and a run knocked in.
The Hawks will host Lincoln University (PA) in a three game CIAA series this weekend. On Saturday the Hawks will celebrate senior day for six seniors,
