PEMBROKE, NC – #8 UNC-Pembroke limited Chowan to just four hits en route to a 9-2 victory on Wednesday.  UNC-Pembroke (5-0) tallied 13 hits in the game, and scored five runs in the eighth inning to break the game open.
 
Chowan (3-3) scored twice in the top of the third inning, when a UNC-P error allowed William Ward and Blake Leebrick to score.  That tied the game at two, and the score was deadlocked until the sixth inning.
 
In the sixth, a pair of Braves' singles plated two runs to put UNC-P back up 4-2.  Chowan had three batters reach in the top of that inning, but could not convert.  The Braves notched four hits in the eighth inning, including three doubles, leading to their five runs.  An Andrew Alford bases-clearing double capped the scoring.
 
Starting pitcher Brett Garrett threw six strong innings, giving up two earned runs (four total) and striking out one.  Josh Catalano went 2-4 at the plate, while Ward tallied one hit and one run scored.
 
Chowan returns home this weekend to face Mercyhurst College on Saturday February 11^th and Sunday, February 12^th.  Game time for each day is set for 12:00 noon.
