Hawks Roll to Twinbill Sweep Over Lincoln

MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University baseball team pounded out 24 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Lincoln University (PA) this afternoon. Chowan rolled to a 10-1 first game win and a 9-0 shut out win in the nightcap. The Hawks pitching staff held the Lions to just four hits over 14 innings of play. Chowan remains undefeated in CIAA play at 4-0 while improving their overall record to 7-9. Lincoln falls to 0-8 on the year and 0-8 in the CIAA after today's doubleheader.

Anthony O'Brien pitched a two hitter for his first win on the mound this season. O'Brien mowed down 10 Lion batters over seven innings pitched. He got all the run support he needed as the Hawks combined for 15 team hits. Ryan Moore was 3-4 with a homerun and a double and three RBI to pace the team offensively. Brandon Mack and Eddie Overton were both 3-4 and Josh Catalano ended the day at 2-3 with two runs scored.

Josh Barmoy pitched a complete game shut out for his second win on the mound this season. Barmoy struck out 11 batters and gave up just two hits. Catalano continued to excel at the plate with three hits and two runs scored. Justin Bagbey went 2-2 with two runs and an RBI and Overston went 2-4 with two runs knocked in.

The Hawks (7-9, 4-0) will travel to Saint Augustines College on Tuesday in their next outing for only their second road trip of the season.
