Box Score MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University volleyball team ended a four game losing streak with a straight sets victory over Saint Pauls College this evening in CIAA court action. The Hawks had nine different players record kills in route to an easy 3-0 win. Chowan tallied 65 team kills to Saint Pauls three total team kills. Chowan's
Victoria Lewis paced the Hawks with 10 kills while
Karina Monroe tallied seven kills.
Chowan won with final set scores of 25-7, 25-7, and 25-8 to improve to 1-4 on the year and 1-0 in CIAA play. Saint Pauls falls to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the CIAA after tonight's match.
Lewis connected for .421 hitting percentage tonight after hitting 10 kills on 19 attempts with only two hitting errors. As a team Chowan hit at .369 clip, spreading the wealth as nine different players collected kills in the win.
Callie Armistead collected 18 assists while
Charla Hughes came in to get 11 assists. For Saint Pauls, Tekesha Rhodes had two kills and six digs.
Chowan will play in the first of two CIAA Volleyball Round Up Weekends this weekend at Winston-Salem State University. They will play two CIAA cross over matches on Saturday and one on Sunday. They will not return to the Helms Center until September 24th when a 6:00pm match up with Virginia State University.
