Box Score MURFREESBORO - Chowan University's baseball team was eliminated from the 2010 NCCAA South Region baseball tournament in day two play at Hawkins Field today. After losing to North Greenville to open the tournament on Wednesday, the Hawks moved to the loser's bracket to face Truett-McConnell College in today's first game. The Hawks won 5-3 over the Bears to advance to play Emmanuel College in today's late game. Emmanuel edged Chowan 9-8 to eliminate the Hawks from the tournament.
Chowan scored five runs in the fifth inning to come from behind to beat Truett-McConnell in today's first game. The Hawks took advantage of two Bear errors and three run-producing walks to claw back into the game and get the eventual win. Anthony O'Brien pitched the first four innings for the win. He gave up two hits and struck out four in the game.
Andrew Hales pitched the last three innings for the save. He gave up a hit and struck out two batters in relief.

Brandon Mack were both 2-4 with an RBI at the plate.
The 5-3 win over TMC pushed Chowan further in the loser's bracket to play Emmanuel College (GA). In a marathon game the Lions won after scoring two runs in their final at-bat in the 7th inning to take the 9-8 win over Chowan. Mike Taylor was 2-4 with three RBI and a homerun while Mack was 2-4 with two runs knocked in. Four different pitchers got time on the mound for the Hawks with
John Atkins getting the loss in relief. Atkins tossed 3.2 innings and gave up two runs.
Emmanuel College moves on to play Southeastern University tomorrow at 12:00pm. North Greenville will play in the championship game after beating Southeastern in today's 1:00pm game. North Greenville will await the winner of tomorrow's 12:00pm game.
The Hawks end the year at 24-23-1 overall.
