#18 Braves Handle Hawks

Stanton continued to stay hot at the plate with two HR's today

PEMBROKE, NC - The baseball team moved to 23-21-1 overall after dropping a doubleheader to #18 UNC-Pembroke this afternoon. The Hawks fell with final scores of 15-3 and 18-2. Senior Nate Stanton accounted for four RBI in the twinbill with two homeruns, one in each contest. The Hawks will wrap up the regular season with a doubleheader against Saint Andrews College at home on Tuesday afternoon.

Adam Capps and Stewart Barnette each went 2-4 at the plate for Chowan while Stanton was 1-4 with a two-run homerun. Tyler King started the game, throwing four innings. He gave up nine runs on nine hits. Josh Powell pitched in relief of King. He gave up four hits and six runs before Spencer Fagan came in to throw the final 3.1 innings. Fagan allowed one hit and no runs.

Andrew Hales went four innings in the nightcap game on the mound. He gave up 18 runs on 17 hits, Thomas Bird and John Kellett pitched an inning in relief of Hales. Staton was 1-2 with a two-run homerun in the game.

Chowan falls to 23-21-1 and will host Saint Andrews College on  Tuesday afternoon in a 1:00pm doubleheader.
