Box Score ETTRICK, VA - Chowan University's baseball team advanced to the semi-finals of the CIAA Spring Championships after winning their first round game against #3 Virginia State University 7-3 this morning. Chowan's
Ryan Bradshaw came up big on the mound for Chowan playing near his hometown of Hopewell, Virginia. He threw 6.1 innings before Robert Weaver came in to shut down the Trojans for the save. The Hawks collected 12 hits in the win led by
Nate Stanton and
Brandon Mack with three hits each.
The Hawks busted a 2-2 tie with a three run third inning and added to their lead with runs in the 5th and 6th innings. #Ryan Bradshaw
picked up his 5th win of the season after giving up three runs on 10 hits. He also struck out five Trojan batters. Robert Weaver# came in to shut down the Trojans for the save. He threw 2.2 innings and gave up one hit through ten batters faced.
Mack and Stanton each had two RBI to go with their three hits.
Zac Caito and
John Kellett were both 2-5 in the win.
Chowan will play the winner of the #1 Saint Augustine's College/#4 Elizabeth City State University game being played at 1:00pm.
