Baseball Splits Play at VSU

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ETTRICK, VA - After sweeping a home doubleheader with Virginia State University yesterday at home, the Hawks split a twinbill in Ettrick with the Trojans today. Chowan fell in extra innings 10-9 in the first of two games but bounced back to take the nightcap 15-8. The Hawks pounded out 28 hits in the doubleheader. The Hawks move to-13-14-1 overall and 6-4 in the CIAA after today's games.

The Trojans scored six runs in the bottom of the 7th to force extra innings. After scoreless top of the 8th inning for Chowan, the Trojans loaded the bases and scored the winning run on a passed ball. Brandon Mack and Mike Taylor had three hits each in the game while Stewart Barnette and John Kellett each had two hits in the game. 

The Hawks bounced back to take the nightcap 15-8. Tyler King pitched the win after scattering seven hits and giving up five runs. He also struck out three batters. Taylor was 4-5 with two RBI while Mack was 3-4 with three doubles. Barnette was 3-4 with four RBI and two doubles in the win. 

Chowan will host Saint Pauls College on Wednesday, March 31st, in their next outing.
