Baseball Loses One, Ties One at St. Andrews

LAURINBURG, NC - The baseball team moved to 2-4-1 after dropping a 6-5 decision and tying the nightcap 6-6 with St. Andrews College this afternoon. The Hawks ran out of daylight, forcing both teams to end the game in a 6-6 tie. Chowan collected 18 hits over the two games but couldn't keep St. Andrews from putting runs on the board. 

St. Andrews used one run in the bottom of the 6th inning to take the 6-5 win over Chowan in the first game. The Hawks totaled 10 hits in the loss with Justin Bagbey and Nate Mitchell each getting two hits with a homerun. Brandon MackNate Stanton , and Zac Caito each tallied two hits for Chowan. Andrew Hales pitched the first 5 innings, giving up five runs, three of which were earned. Anthony O'Brien gave up the run in the 6th to pick up the loss on the mound. 

Will Medlin pitched the nightcap, tossing 5.2 innings. Medlin gave up eight hits and six runs in the tie. Tyler Chelenza pitched 1.1 innings in relief of Medlin. He faced five batters giving up a hit and no runs. Mike Taylor was 2-2 with a run scored and an RBI. 

The Hawks (2-4-1) will host Indiana University-PA in a weekend, four-game series starting on Saturday. First pitch is slated for 12:00pm.
