MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University volleyball team fell in straight sets in a nonconference match to Barton College this evening. Despite having two players net double-figure kills, the Hawks were outdone by Barton's Melissa Ritter who had a match-high 20 kills on the night. Chowan falls to 14-10 on the year while Barton improves to 11-9 overall.
Chowan fell with final set scores of 25-23, 29-27, and 25-19.
Karina Monroe had a team-high 16 kills and six blocks on the night while
Victoria Lewis had 13 kills and nine digs.
Callie Armistead had 33 assists for the Hawks.
For Barton, Ritter finished up with 20 kills in 35 attempts and setter Carly Love had 36 assists.
The Hawks will host Elizabeth City State University in their next match up. The Lady Vikings are the only team that has bested the Hawks this season in the CIAA. It will be a match up between the first and second place teams in the CIAA North Division. Match time is set for 6:00pm at the Helms Center.
