MURFREESBORO, NC – The Chowan University women's volleyball team hosted east division opponent UNC Pembroke on Wednesday evening at the Hawks Athletic Center. The Hawks battled through 14 ties and seven lead changes across three sets before the Braves secured a 3-0 decision.
Chowan kept the opening set competitive, recording 12 kills, but UNC Pembroke pulled ahead to take the first set 25-21.
The Hawks would put up 11 kills in the second set as UNC Pembroke responded with 12 kills of their own to take the set 25-17 and extend the lead to 2-0.
The third set would see three times and battled through six ties with the Hawks adding another 11 kills, but UNC Pembroke would secure the set 25-19 for game.

Alexa Fricker led the Chowan offense with a match-high 10 kills for the Hawks, adding four digs and an assist.
Madison Henderson followed with six kills posting a .313 hitting percentage while contributing one solo block, one block assist, and a service ace.
Jada Caruthers and Alanna Verme each recorded five kills, with Verme adding three digs and a block assist. Alauna Wilson-Linn contributed four kills for a .333 hitting percentage and added a service ace.
Andrea Krgovic directed the Chowan offense with a match-high 24 assists while contributing nine digs and two kills.
Anna Holcombe led the Hawks defensively with 13 digs, three assists, and a service ace. Brooke Hart added five digs and a service ace.
As a team, Chowan finished with 34 kills, 29 assists, 42 digs, four service aces and four total blocks.
