DANVILLE, VA - The opening day of the DIAC tournament paired the Averett Cougars against the Braves. The Braves had no problems getting past the Cougars as they won 17-5. Danny Petitte moved to 8-3 on the season after pitching 8 innings and scattering 7 hits.
Kenny Bragg had 3 hits for the Braves while
Jarrod Tanner and
Brian Haynie added two hits. The win would pair the Braves against the Panthers of Ferrum College. The game was notched at one apiece until Ferrum drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 12th inning to get the 2-1 win.
Travis Mister gets the loss after relieving
Randy Burden who pitched 9 innings. The loss would move the Braves to the loser bracket to face off against NC Wesleyan. The Braves would fall with a final score of 11-10.
Nick Hagler was 3-6 with 4 RBI's while
Doug Warren was 3-5.
Jarrod Tanner and
Brandon Howlin each had 2 hits in the loss. The Braves wrapped up the season with a 25-14 overall record and 7-7 in the DIAC.
