Hawks Tennis Concludes Play at the Hilton Head Spring Tennis Fest

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Chowan University men's and women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Spring Break Tennis Fest with both playing two matches on Monday.

Teams/Records: Chowan , Indiana University of Pennsylvania (6-6), Thomas More Women (6-3), Thomas More Men (4-3), Brevard (1-4)

INSIDE THE RESULTS 

MEN: vs. Brevard, Thomas More

The Chowan men's tennis team went undefeated against Brevard, earning a 6-0 sweep, winning all matches in straight sets. 

Marcel Ungerbeock opened with a 6-4 win in the first set before closing out the match with a 6-2 victory in the second. Thales Sette defeated his opponent 6-2 in both sets, while David De Simon controlled his match with a 6-0 first-set win followed by a 6–1 finish.

Tadeo Missan kept his opponent off the scoreboard, claiming a pair of 6-0 victories. Teramusa Inoue secured a 6-1 first-set win before edging out a tight second set, 7-6, taking the tiebreaker by three points. Maksim Kachuk rounded out the Hawks' strong showing with back-to-back 6-0 set wins.

Chowan dropped a 4-3 decision to Thomas More University earlier in the day. Rain delayed the start of several of the Hawks matches over the weekend in Hilton Head. The Hawks picked up the #3 doubles win with Thales Sette and Tadeo Sanchez winning 7-6. Thales went on to pick up wins at the #2 singles spot, 6-1, 6-1 while David De Simon beat his opponent at the #3 position, 6-1, 6-3. Tadeo Missan picked up the Hawks third singles win of the day at the #4 seed with a 6-2, 6-3 win. 

WOMEN: vs. IUP, Thomas More

The Hawks and Indiana University-PA were plagued with rain delays most of the morning but managed to get the match in. IUP clinched the match at 4-0. Thomas More picked up a 4-2 win over the Hawks but Feidi Abreu Rodriguez picked up a 6-1, 7-6 win at the #2 singles position and teammate Victoria Videla secured a 6-1, 2-6 (1-0) win over her opponent in the #6 singles position. 

UP NEXT 

The Hawks return to action on Saturday, March 14th, traveling to Florence, South Carolina to open conference play on the road against Francis Marion. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
