MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Throughout the 2025-2026 Chowan Athletic season, the Chowan Athletic Department will feature the Ace Hardware Student-Athletes of the Week. For the week of February 18 – February 25, Vanja Romic of the women's swimming team and Ahmaad Goldson of the baseball team, have been recognized for their standout performances over the past week of competition.
 

Vanja Romic delivered an outstanding performance at the Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships on February 20, etching her name into the Chowan record books once again. The freshman set a new school record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.92, earning a third-place podium finish in the event. Romic's mark surpassed her own previous school record of 1:06.15, which she set earlier this season at the King Midseason Invite in Kingsport, Tennessee. Capping off an impressive freshman campaign, Romic closed her season on a high note with a record-breaking swim and a championship podium appearance.

Ahmaad Goldson earned recognition following a clutch, game-changing performance against Ferrum on February 20-21. With the Hawks trailing 9-8 in the bottom of the eighth inning and facing a two-strike count, Goldson launched a bases-loaded grand slam to right field, swinging the momentum and giving Chowan a 12-9 advantage they would not relinquish. Goldson's impact extended beyond the batter's box. In game two of the series, he secured his first win on the mound, tossing a complete game while striking out 10 batters across seven innings of work. His dominant two-way performance proved pivotal in the Hawks' two wins in the three game series.
