NORFOLK, V.A. - The Chowan University men's and women's swim teams opened the second half of the season at a Virginia Wesleyan University double-dual with Barton College and the host team, the Marlins. Chowan picked up four event wins in the 28-event meet, including two by Aleksei Belolipetskii and two by Sara Turanjanin.

INSIDE THE RESULTS
Coming off of a six-week break from competition, the Hawks opened the season with a double-dual against Barton College and Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday, January 10th. The Hawks picked up four first place event finishes in the 28-event meet.
Michael Grenier picked up a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle after touching the wall at 1:57.17. Turanjanin swam a 29.44, 50 yard backstroke to pick up first place for the women while fellow freshman Vanja Romic finished second in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 33.27.
Belolipetskii finished with a time of 27.65 in the 50 yard breaststroke to pick up one of his two event wins. He touched the wall just ahead of Barton's Natan Mometto who touched the wall at 27.93. Romic picked up her second, second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle after finishing with a time of 59.46. Turanjanin picked up her second first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke after swimming a time of 1:04.41.
Stefan Reedy finished just out of first place in the 100 yard backstroke with a second place time of 1:01.61. Belolipetskii finished the 100 yard IM in first place with a time of 54.24. The Hawks men's team finished up the meet with a second place finish in the 200 freestyle relay led by Robert Liz Cabrera, Grenier, Belolipetskii, and Reedy. The four-man relay finished just out of first place with a time of 1:33.24.

The Hawks will swim again on Saturday, January 17th in a double-dual meet against Washington and Lee University and Randolph-Macon University. Meet time is set for 12:00pm at the Washington and Lee Natatorium in Lexington, Virginia.
