MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Conference Carolinas announced its Players of the Week on Monday afternoon following week four of competition, with Chowan highlighted after a thrilling 30-29 victory over Shorter University. The win marked the Hawks first conference win of the season, improving their league record to 1-0.
Wide receiver Jakobe Lane was recognized for his efforts, earning Special Teams Player of the Week honors. The Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards went to UNC Pembroke.

Lane had a big week for Chowan, accounting for 127 kick return yards for an average of 42.3 yards per return. His long return of the day was 81 yards that setup a Hawk touchdown that evened the score in the 30-29 win at Shorter.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Previous Winners
Que Kennedy | UNC Pembroke | Wide Receiver | Sophomore | Ocala, Florida
Kennedy had a big day to help lead UNC Pembroke to a 31-0 win at 20th-ranked Valdosta State. He posted three catches, two for touchdowns, and accumulated 130 yards. His long reception of the day was a 74-yard touchdown.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Previous Winners
Jamiel Davis | UNC Pembroke | Defensive Back | Sophomore | Wilmington, North Carolina
Davis was a key member of the UNC Pembroke defense that posted a shutout at 20th-ranked Valdosta State. The Braves held the Blazers scoreless for the first time since 1991, a span of 395 games. Davis posted three tackles, two solo and broke up one pass. In the fourth quarter, Davis came up with an interception and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown in the 31-0 UNC Pembroke win.
