Hawks Eye 2026 Season as Conference Carolinas Football Continues to Grow

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University football team is preparing for the 2026 season under the leadership of Head Coach Paul Johnson for the fourth consecutive year, as Conference Carolinas enters its second year hosting football. 

The Hawks have 10 regular season games scheduled for the 2026 season, with six road games and four home games. 

For the second season, Conference Carolinas will host a full slate of football games, featuring nine league schools. 

"Conference Carolinas experienced a great deal of success in our first football season in 51 years with the 2025 season," Conference Carolinas Commissioner Chris Colvin said. "Everyone is looking to build off this success in 2026."

Chowan will open the 2026 season with back-to-back road games. On August 29th the Hawks will travel to play West Virginia State University in a non-conference gridiron duel. The Hawks will follow that up with a road trip to Wise, Virginia to play UVA-Wise in a second non-conference match up on September 5th. The Hawks will host back-to-back home games beginning on September 12th against Virginia Union University and then begin Conference Carolinas play with Barton College on September 19th. 

After a bye week on September 26th, the Hawks will travel to Livingston, Alabama, to face West Alabama on October 3rd for a non-conference matchup. Chowan will then continue conference play with a trip to North Greenville on October 10th. Erskine College will visit Murfreesboro for this year's Homecoming game on October 17th, followed by a road matchup against UNC Pembroke on October 24. 

The Hawks will close out the regular season with a trip to Ferrum College on October 31 before returning home to host Shorter University for Senior Day and the Hall of Fame Celebration on November 7th.
