Hawks Finish WSSU Spring Classic in Second Place in Twelve-Team Field

ARCHDALE, N.C. - The Chowan University men's golf team finished up the WSSU Spring Classic on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks finished in a two-way tie for second place when the final cards were submitted on Tuesday afternoon. Chowan shot +18 as a team in the final round to finish +20 in the three-round tournament. The Hawks were one shot off the first place finish of +19 by Fayetteville State University. They shared a second place finish with Livingstone College (+20).

INSIDE THE SCORE CARDS

Matthew Herberger finished up final round play with a 76 to finish in a three-way tie for third place in the 75 player field. CU's Mika Buchholtz paced the Hawks with a low round of 75 on Tuesday. He carded four birdies in the match and finished the three-round tournament in 12th place at +5. Bjoern Holt carded a 77 in round three to finish +8 after three rounds and in a tie in 17th place with teammate Tyler Darnell. Darnell carded a 78 in round three after posting rounds of 73-73 on Monday. Jacob King rounded out the scoring for team play, carding a third round 81. King finished +15 and in 35th place in the 75 man field. 

Adam Lankford played consistently throughout the tournament as an individual. He carded a a 75 on Tuesday and finished the tournament with seven birdies. Jacob Kearney fired a back nine 35 with an eagle on the 18th hole. Kearney finished up at +9 while teammate Justin Peterson finished up round three with an 81. Peterson finished up +17 with four birdies over three rounds. 

UP NEXT 

The Hawks will travel to Wilson, North Carolina in their next outing. They will play at the Barton Intercollegiate at Wilson Country Club on March 10th and 11th.
