KINGSPORT, TENN. – The Chowan Men's Swimming team opened up the 2022-23 Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships with a school record and all-conference performance to highlight day one.

INSIDE THE LANES

Jan Gastal, Andres Martijena, Aleksei Belolipetskii, and Fabrizio Infante shattered the school record in the 200 Medley Relay while securing Second Team All-Conference in the event.  The highest finish in the event since the 2018-19 relay finished third.

THE RESULTS

1000 Free:

Igor Proszynski finished eighth overall in the event with a time of 10:54.12.

200 Medley Relay:

Jan Gastal, Andres Martijena, Aleksei Belolipetskii, and Fabrizio Infante shattered the school record on their way to a second place finish with a time of 1:31.59.

Erica Mock, Hiba Laknit, Ashley Mayes, and Aislinn Kessinger posted an in-season best time of 1:50.19 to finish sixth overall.

800 Free Relay:

The men comprised of Robert Liz Cabrera, Andrew Simmons, Marshall Stevens, and David Clark finished fifth overall with a time of 7:32.71.

The women finished seventh overall as Atar Idrissi, Kyndra Jackson, Arriel Quant, and Hiba Laknit swam for the Hawks.

Chowan will compete in the 500 Free, 200 IM, and 50 Free in prelims starting at 10am on Thursday, February 16.
