BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – The Gulf South Conference announced their all-conference and annual awards on Thursday, voted on by the league's head coaches.
Traveon Mitchell was selected as a First Team selection in the Gulf South after leading the program in tackles with 57 and 14.0 tackles for loss. Mitchell was second in the GSC in TFLs behind GSC Defensive Player of the Year, John McMullen from West Florida.
Mitchell added a strip sack against Shorter along with six quarterback hurries and a blocked kick this season. The Forestville, Md. native secured 1.5 TFLs in four games this season including 2.5 TFLs against Delta State and West Alabama.
Mitchell improved from being named CIAA All-Rookie last season to a First Team selection in 2023.
