ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Chowan Men's and Women's Swimming teams opened up the second semester with a loss against Conference Carolinas foe Barton on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

200 Medley Relay:

The men finished with a time of 1:36.75 to finish second as Barton finished with a time of 1:36.36.

Chowan women finished fourth in the event with a time of 2:07.51.

200 Free:

Atar Idrissi finished fifth overall with a time of 2:21.00.  Igor Prosynski finished fourth for the men with a time of 1:55.17, while David Clark finished with a time of 1:59.87.

100 Back:

Jan Gastal and Andrew Simmons finished third and fourth respectively with time of 57.86 and 1:03.24.  Gastal's time was fourth best in program history.  Erica Mock finished with a time of 1:05.41 to finish fourth.

100 Breast:

Andres Martijena and Aleksei Belolipetskii finished in the top two spots for the men in the event.  Martijena touched the wall at 58.41, while Belolipetskii touched with a time of 1:00.09 for a personal best time to stay in fifth in program history.

Hiba Laknit finished fourth overall with a time of 1:13.60.

200 Fly:

Jan Gastal posted the sixth fastest time in program history with a third place finish with a time of 2:11.64.

50 Free:

Fabrizio Infante led the group with a first place finish with a time of 21.87.  Dakota Reynolds and Hesley Masara posted personal best times.

Ashley Mayes finished second overall with a time of 26.26.  Sreshta Puducheri clocked a personal best time.

100 Free:

Atar Idrissi finished fourth overall with a time of 1:04.74.  David Clark (54.07), Andrew Simmons (59.10), and Brayden Conboy (personal best) finished third through fifth for the Hawks.

200 Back:

Erica Mock finished third overall with a time of 2:21.49.  Igor Proszynski touched the wall third with a time of 2:14.71, while Andrew Simmons finished in fifth.

200 Breast:

Hiba Laknit finished third overall with a time of 2:39.26.  Andres Martijena finished first with a time of 2:11.65.  Fabrizio Infante would finish fourth with a time of 2:19.92.

100 Fly:

Ashley Mayes finished second overall with a time of 1:04.91.  Aleksei Belolipetskii finished fourth with a time of 57.03 and David Clark finished with a time of 1:00.06.

200 IM:

Andres Martijena finished fourth for the Hawks with a time of 2:07.87.  Hiba Laknit finished fifth with a time of 2:31.38.

200 Free Relay:

The men finished with a time of 1:29.79 to finish second overall.  The 'B' relay finished fourth with a time of 1:42.59.

The women would finish third overall with a time of 1:53.28.
