FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – The Chowan Baseball dropped the series opener against Emmanuel in Conference Carolinas action on Friday afternoon on the road.

Tyler West and Emanuel Betancourt posted a pair of hits on the afternoon. West and Dallas Trevena launched a home run each in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Chowan looked to rally in the top of the first inning as Patrick Krack drew a one-out walk. Krack would get picked off at first before Tyler West was hit by a pitch. Emanuel Betancourt picked up a single as West moved to third on an error. A groundout would end the inning.
Emmanuel used an error in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead. The Lions posted a two-out rally in the bottom of the third leading to three runs as the Lions extended their lead to 4-0.
Emanuel Betancourt posted a double in the top of the fourth before Caleb Karie drew a walk. Both would advance on a wild pitch before being left stranded in scoring position.
The Hawks would get on the board in the top of the sixth as Tyler West hit his eighth home run of the season.
The Lions countered with a pair of runs in the sixth to lead 6-1 on three hits and an error.
Aidan Palacios was hit by a pitch with one out in the seventh before Dallas Trevena sent a two-run shot over the left center field fence to cut the deficit in half, 6-3.
Three free passes in the seventh allowed Emmanuel to plate a run to push their lead to 7-3.
Tyler West picked up a single in the eighth and Ty Johnson drew a walk in the ninth for the final base runners for the Hawks.

Chowan returns to the field to take on Emmanuel on Saturday, April 9 in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 3pm.
