MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team dropped a Conference Carolinas doubleheader against Belmont Abbey on Friday afternoon.

Patrick Krack, Emanuel Betancourt, Caleb Karie, and Tyler West collected two hits each. Krack led the offense with a pair of doubles. Karie and West added one double each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 1, Belmont Abbey 9
Belmont Abbey scored the opening run of the contest in the top of the second on a pair of hits to lead 1-0. The Crusaders added a solo home run in the third inning to lead 2-0.
Emanuel Betancourt picked up a single to left center in the bottom of the second inning and Carrington Williams added a single in the third.
The Crusaders extended their lead to 4-0 in the fourth inning as a lead-off walk sparked the rally.
Tyler West tried to spark a rally in the bottom of the fourth inning with a lead-off double before being left stranded.
The Hawks rallied in the bottom of the fifth as Ethan Whelan opened the inning with a single to left before moving to second on a wild pitch. Dallas Trevena singled to left to plate Whelan to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Back-to-back doubles in the sixth inning for the Crusaders increased their lead to 5-1. Belmont Abbey used two hits in the eighth to push their advantage to 8-1. BAC added a run in the ninth inning to cap off the contest, 9-1.
Game Two: Chowan 2, Belmont Abbey 5
Neither side gained much momentum in the opening two innings of the nightcap until the Crusaders tallied four runs in the third inning to lead 4-0.
Dallas Trevena drew a two out walk in the third inning prior to Patrick Krack hitting a double to centerfield. The throw to the plate would nab Trevena to end the inning.
Belmont Abbey added a run in the fourth inning as a lead-off single and an error produced a run to lead 5-0.
Chowan would cut the deficit to 5-2 in the fifth inning as Aidan Palacios reached on an error to lead off the inning. Caleb Karie doubled down the left field line to plate Palacios. Patrick Krack doubled to right field to bring home Karie to cut into the deficit.
Jackson Dunlap singled up the middle and moved to second on a wild pitch in the sixth. A groundout moved Dunlap to third before being left stranded.

Chowan wraps up the season on Saturday, April 30 in the final game of the series against Belmont Abbey. First pitch is slated for 12:30pm with senior day festivities beginning at 12pm.
