MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team saw their 2022 season come to a close on Senior Day against Belmont Abbey on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action.

Noah Cartwright saved the best for last as he recorded his first three-hit contest of his career to pace the Hawks with a pair of singles and a double. Tyler West added two hits.
Patrick Krack picked up a strikeout in relief. Welinton Mariano tossed a pair of scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
Prior to the contest, Chowan honored: Noah Cartwright, Noah Evington, Jarret Henderson, Patrick Krack, Welinton Mariano, Caleb Peterson, DeeJay Seelbach, Dallas Trevena, and Justin Winslow.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Belmont Abbey opened the contest with a pair of infield singles that were just out of the reach of the fielder's grasp. The Crusaders would take a 3-0 lead in the inning with a home run.
The Crusaders added four runs in the second inning to increase their lead to 7-0.
The Hawks looked to rally in the bottom of the second as Ryan Bellamy drew a walk followed by Noah Cartwright and Ethan Whelan finding the hole through the left side of the infield with one out before leaving the bases loaded.
Belmont Abbey benefited from an error to lead off the inning to scratch across a run in the top of the third inning, 8-0. The Crusaders tacked on a pair in the fourth to lead 10-0.
Noah Cartwright led off the bottom of the fourth with a double to center before being left stranded.
The Crusaders added three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to lead 14-0.
Tyler West opened the bottom of the sixth with a single through the left side of the infield. West moved to second on a wild pitch before coming around to score on a single by Caleb Karie.
In the bottom of the seventh, Landon Oughton drew a one-out walk before Dallas Trevena hit a double into the left center gap to put a pair of runners in scoring position. Patrick Krack drew a full-count walk to load the bases. A double play would end the threat to keep the score at 14-1 in favor of the Crusaders.
Noah Cartwright opened the bottom of the eighth with a single to center. Ethan Robinson picked up a single in the ninth to conclude the contest.
