MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team were unable to weather the fifth inning storm by the King Tornado in Conference Carolinas action on Friday afternoon.

Emanuel Betancourt returned to the line-up recording three hits including a home run to pace the Hawks to go along with four RBI. Tyler West added two hits and two walks.
Ben Bausas and Caleb Peterson combined for 4.1 innings allowing one run off three hits in relief.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Tyler West produced a two-out single that bounced off the pitcher and moved to second. Emanuel Betancourt placed a single down the left field line to plate the opening run of the contest. Ryan Bellamy picked up a single to right field before the end of the inning.
King took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning on a solo home run and a sacrifice fly.
Chowan rallied in the bottom of the third as Tyler West drew a four-pitch walk before swiping second. Much like the first inning, Emanuel Betancourt delivered a RBI single to left to even the score at 2-all.
The Tornado used a four hit fifth frame to take a 7-2 lead.
The Hawks rallied in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out single up the middle by Tyler West before Emanuel Betancourt sent a 1-0 pitch over the left field fence to close the gap to 7-4.
King answered with a run in the sixth to extend their lead to 8-4.
Chowan looked to rally in the bottom of the eighth loading the bases as Tyler West, Aidan Palacious, and Caleb Karie drew walks before leaving the bases loaded.
In the ninth, Dallas Trevena drew a walk and Patrick Krack reached on an infield single prior to the end of the contest.

Chowan wraps up the series with King on Saturday, April 23 with a pair of contests in Conference Carolinas action. First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 12pm.
