BRISTOL, TENN. – The Chowan Softball team dropped a pair of Conference Carolinas contests against King on the road on Saturday afternoon.

Serena Riley and Hannah Eden accounted for nearly half of the hits in the twinbill against the Tornado with two hits each.
Hannah Eden, Meredith Morgan, and Kaitlyn Matheny registered a RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 0, King 9 (six innings)
Hannah Eden and Kaitlin Brunelli picked up singles to left in the top of the first inning with two-outs before the rally ended.
King scratched across a run in the bottom of the inning off an error before leaving the bases loaded to take a 1-0 lead.
Meredith Morgan picked up a single in the third inning but was unable to advance in the inning.
The Tornado used six hits in the third inning to push their advantage to 7-0.
The Hawks had their best shot for a rally in the top of the fourth inning as Haleigh Reid and Serena Riley notched a pair of one-out hits. Elizabeth Heller drew a full-count walk to load the bases before the rally was cut short.
King finished off the first game in the sixth inning with a two-run home run to take the victory 9-0.
Game Two: Chowan 3, King 11 (five innings)
King opened up the nightcap with a run in the first and a run in the second to lead 2-0.
Chowan responded in the top of the third as Elizabeth Heller reached on an error and moved to second on a wild pitch. Courtney Lamb picked up a single before a sacrifice bunt by Kaitlyn Matheny to plate a run. Paige Wilhelm continued the rally with a single to right before Meredith Morgan produced a RBI ground out to even the score at 2-all.
The Tornado answered with a five run bottom half of the inning including a grand slam to lead 7-2.
Chowan picked up a run in the top of the fifth inning as Paige Wilhelm reached on an error and moved over to third on a wild pitch and a ground out. Hannah Eden tallied a RBI single to left to cut the deficit to 7-3.
King posted four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the run-rule victory 11-3.

Chowan returns to the diamond as the Hawks travel down I-95 to take on Francis Marion in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on April 8. First pitch is slated for 4pm.
