MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team dropped the series opener against North Greenville, 12-4, on Friday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action.

Patrick Krack, Dallas Trevena, and Ty Johnson collected two hits each. Krack hit a solo home run.
Nicky Wohleking took the no decision tossing 4.0 innings allowing two hits and no runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hawks looked to use a first inning rally to take the early lead as Dallas Trevena led off the contest with a walk. Tyler West was hit by a pitch before the pair moved up 90 feet on a ground out. The rally with not produce with a pair in scoring position.
Carrington Williams started a two-out rally in the bottom of the second with a walk. Ty Johnson singled up the middle before Dallas Trevana singled to left to plate the opening run of the contest, 1-0.
Nicky Wohleking kept the Crusaders off balance including rolling a 6-4-3 double play to end the fourth inning.
NGU scratched across a run in the fifth inning on a single and an error to even the score at 1-all.
Patrick Krack gave the Hawks a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning with a solo blast to right field.
The Crusaders responded in the sixth inning plating five runs off three hits and a pair of errors to lead 6-2. NGU used another error in the eighth to push their advantage to 8-2.
Emanuel Betancourt opened the bottom of the eighth with a double down the left field line. Aidan Palacios singled to center to put runners on the corners before Betancourt score on a failed pick-off attempt. Ty Johnson singled to left to plate Johnson to cut the deficit in half, 8-4.
NGU finished off the scoring in the top of the ninth with four runs off four hits to take the victory 12-4.

Chowan and North Greenville wrap up the league series with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 5. First pitch is slated for 12pm.
