MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team's early lead in game three slipped away as the Hawks' attempt to upset their rivals fell short against Mount Olive on Sunday.

Ryan Bellamy paced the Hawks with four hits. Emanuel Betancourt and Tyler West collected three hits each. Betancourt led the Hawks with three RBI and two hit-by-pitches.
Jarret Henderson tossed 5.0 innings in the nightcap picking up the no decision. Chowan led 4-0 in game three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game Two: Chowan 1, Mount Olive 12
Patrick Krack posted a one-out walk and moved to second on a wild pitch before being left stranded in the top of the first.
Mount Olive took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second as a pair of free passes and a double led to the opening run of the contest. The Trojans added a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning on a single and an error, 3-0.
Tyler West sparked a rally in the fourth inning with a one-out single. Emanuel Betancourt picked up a RBI double to left center to cut the deficit to 3-1.
The Trojans countered with a five run fourth inning to lead 8-1 and four runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 12-1.
Game Three: Chowan 5, Mount Olive 8
Chowan jumped on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning as Patrick Krack produced a one-out walk. Tyler West reached on a fielder's choice before the pair pulled off the double-steal. Emanuel Betancourt was hit-by-a-pitch to load the bases. Ryan Bellamy picked up a RBI groundout to lead 1-0.
The Hawks pushed their advantage to 4-0 in the top of the third inning as Dallas Trevena led off the inning with a walk. Patrick Krack singled before Tyler West singled to right center to score Trevena. Emanuel Betancourt picked up a two RBI single to lead 4-0.
Mount Olive picked up a run in the bottom of the fourth inning on a pair of hits to trail 4-1. The Trojans would continue to rally to pick up a pair of runs in the fifth on two hits and an error, 4-3.
Chowan picked up a run in the seventh inning with a two-out rally as Emanuel Betancourt, Ryan Bellamy, and Aidan Palacios picked up hits to plate a run to lead 5-3.
UMO took advantage of another Chowan miscue to close the gap to 5-4 scoring following a two-out error.
The Trojans finished off the scoring in the eighth inning as a pair of walks with two-outs led to four runs to lead 8-5.
