MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team couldn't get the bats hot enough in the frigid temperatures as the Hawks drop the opener against Mount Olive on Saturday evening, 30-6.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Emanuel Betancourt paced the Hawks with two hits including a two-run home run. Dallas Trevena tallied two hits with a double. Ethan Robinson connected for his first collegiate home run.
Mount Olive pounded out 24 hits aided by eight Chowan miscues.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dallas Trevena led off the contest with a single to left field. Emanuel Betancourt picked up a single to right before Ryan Bellamy recorded a RBI single to left to take a 1-0 lead.
Mount Olive rallied in the bottom of the inning with a pair of doubles to take a 2-1 lead. The Trojans added a run in the bottom of the second on a pair of errors to lead 3-1.
Dallas Trevena reached on an error in the third inning leadinig to Emanuel Betancourt hitting a two-run home run to even the score at 3-all.
Mount Olive stretched their lead to 13-3 in the bottom of the fourth scoring nine runs in the frame.
Chowan rallied to close the gap to 13-5 as Ty Johnson reached on an infield single. Dallas Trevena doubled down the left field line to plate Johnson. The Hawks would load the bases as Tyler West and Emanuel Betancourt reached on free passes. Caleb Karie would plate a run after being hit by a pitch.
UMO scored 17 runs in the final four innings as Ethan Robinson recorded a pinch hit home run for the final tally for the Hawks.
