WILSON, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team saw their winning streak snapped on the road against rival Barton in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday evening.

Christian Koonce paced the Hawks with 23 points and seven rebounds. Jay Estime tallied 17 points, while Chase Barnett tallied 10 points, eight assists, and six rebounds.
The Hawks went 4-10 from the stripe in the second half. Barton produced 12 blocks in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Barton started the contest on a 12-1 run as Jay Estime put the Hawks on the board with a free throw. Chase Barnett ended the run with a three-pointer and Christian Koonce tallied a driving layup to cut the deficit in half, 12-6. Koonce added another jumper before Estime connected from deep.
The Bulldogs opened up their lead to 21-11 prior to Chase Barnett picking up a pair at the stripe. Marcus Elliott knocked down a jumper before Christian Koonce hit a triple. Cheick Traore scored a layup to end the run by the Bulldogs.
Christian Koonce knocked down a free throw before Marcus Elliott scored the next five points with a jumper and a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 35-29. Daylen Askew connected from the charity stripe before Koonce and Elliott scored from the floor to even the score at 35-all.
Jay Estime continued the run with a three-pointer to hand the Hawks their first lead in the contest, 38-37, at the end of the period.
Second Half:
Cheick Traore scored the opening points for the Hawks as Jay Estime and Daylen Askew connected from the floor to lead 44-41. Christian Koonce added a jumper before assisting on Chase Barnett's layup in transition.
Barton used a 6-0 run to regain the lead before RJ Wilson connected from the floor and Christian Koonce tallied an old-fashioned three-point play to hand the lead back to the Hawks, 54-53. Daylen Askew finished the and-one to offset the Bulldog bucket.
Chase Barnett scored in transition before the Bulldogs evened the score at 59-all midway through the half. Jay Estime added a layup and a three-pointer to trade points with Barton. Christian Koonce added a point at the line to maintain the slim advantage.
Following a three-point play by the Bulldogs, Christian Koonce added a pair of layups to give the Hawks a 69-68 lead with 3:21 remaining. The Bulldogs regained the lead at the charity stripe to lead 75-69. Jay Estime knocked down a triple with 15 seconds left to cut the deficit in half.
The Bulldogs finished off the contest at the stripe.
