MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team garnered a doubleheader split in non-conference action on Sunday against Kutztown behind a strong collegiate debut by Carson Everette.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORES
Carson Everette tossed a complete game two-hit gem in his collegiate debut. The lefty allowed one run off two hits and eight strikeouts. Ben Bausas picked up the loss in the nightcap despite allowing two runs (one earned) off three hits and five strikeouts in five innings of work.
Justin Winslow paced the Hawks with three hits, a double, two RBI, and two stolen bases. Emanuel Betancourt posted two hits. Noah Evington registered three RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game Three: Chowan 7, Kutztown 1
Chowan opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as Justin Winslow led off with a walk and swiped second. Noah Evington singled home Winslow for the 1-0 lead before moving to second on a wild pitch. Tyler West was hit by a pitch prior to a passed ball advancing Evington and West up 90 feet.
The Hawks tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the second inning to lead 3-0 on a pair of hits and a Golden Bears miscue. Caleb Karie singled up the middle before Joshua James reached on an error. After a fielder's choice, the pair advanced on a wild pitch. Justin Winslow singled to right center to plate a run before a RBI groundout by Noah Evington scored the second run in the inning.
The bottom of the fourth inning saw the Hawks extend their lead to 6-0 as Caleb Karie opened the inning with a walk. Joshua James reached on a bunt single before Ty Johnson brought a run home reaching on an error. Justin Winslow followed up the error with a double to right center and Noah Evington hit a sacrifice fly to score Johnson.
Chowan pushed the lead to 7-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning as Joshua James drew a two-out walk. Ty Johnson singled to left before James came around to score on a wild pitch and throwing error.
Kutztown broke up the shutout in the top of the seventh as a two out single after a lead-off hit-by-pitch. Carson Everette tallied a strikeout to end the contest.
Game Four: Chowan 0, Kutztown 5
Kutztown would score in the opening inning of the finale as the lead-off batter reached on a throwing error and later scored on a single to right.
The Golden Bears added a run in the top of the second inning as a hit-by-pitch with two outs kept the inning alive for the 2-0 lead.
Emanuel Betancourt singled to left center to open the bottom of the second. Aidan Palacios picked up a hit to put runners in scoring position but the Hawks were unable to plate a run in the inning.
Kutztown looked to add to their lead in the bottom of the fourth after a lead-off single. Ben Bausas picked up a strikeout before Ethan Whelan caught the runner at third for the double play.
In the top of the sixth, Kutztown tacked on a pair of runs to extend their lead to 4-0.
Chowan would load the bases in the bottom of the sixth with two outs but was unable to scratch a run across.
Kutztown finished off the scoring in the top of the seventh plating a run off three hits to lead 5-0.

Chowan is scheduled to host Wheeling in a three-game series on February 12-13. First pitch of the doubleheader on Saturday is slated from 12pm.
