WILSON, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team picked up a split on the opening day of the Wilson Tobs Baseball Classic on Friday as the Hawks collected win 190 for head coach Taylor Furlough in the nightcap against Mid-Atlantic Christian.

Ryan Bellamy paced the Hawks at the plate with five hits. Bellamy added two RBI on the day. Tyler West collected three hits including a home run to go with five RBI. Ty Johnson picked up four hits on the day, going 3-3 in the opener.
Patrick Krack went 2-3 in the nightcap with five RBI, three walks, and four stolen bases. Dallas Trevena nearly hit for the cycle in the nightcap missing out on the home run posting a triple, double, and single.
Ethan Whelan went 3-4 in the nightcap. Jarret Henderson picked up the win in the nightcap tossing 4.0 innings allowing one run with four strikeouts.
In the nightcap, head coach Taylor Furlough collected win 190 in his career, tying for the most in program history with his predecessor, Aaron Carroll.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Chowan 5, Frostburg State 19
Frostburg State opened the scoring in the top of the first inning scoring five runs including a grand-slam. The Bobcats tacked on two more runs in the top of the second inning to lead 7-0.
Ty Johnson collected the first hit for the Hawks in the bottom of the third inning before swiping second. Noah Evington drew a one-out walk before Tyler West delivered a three-run home run to right field to cut the deficit to 7-3.
FSU countered with a pair of home runs in the fourth inning to plate seven runs to take control of the contest 14-3.
Chowan rallied for a pair in the fifth inning as Ty Johnson led off the inning with a single to right center. Dallas Trevena was hit by a pitch before Emanuel Betancourt singled to left to plate Johnson. Ryan Bellamy singled down the left field line to plate Trevena to cut the deficit to 14-5.
The Bobcats finished off the contest with five more runs to take the opener 19-5.

Chowan found offense quickly as Dallas Trevena tripled to right to open the contest before trotting home on Tyler West's single to left center. West would swipe second before moving to third on the overthrow. Patrick Krack hit a RBI groundout to stretch the lead to 2-0 early.
The Hawks plated three runs in the second inning to lead 5-0. Ethan Whelan doubled with one out to left center to spark the rally. Whelan would score on Dallas Trevena's double to left center. Tyler West drew a walk before Trevena and West scored on Patrick Krack's double down the left field line.
Mid-Atlantic Christian broke up the shutout in the third inning on a pair of extra base hits to trim the deficit to 5-1.
Chowan would collect the run back in the fourth inning as Dallas Trevena was hit by a pitch to lead-off the inning. Trevena swiped second before an overthrow pushed him to third. Patrick Krack singled to left to plate Trevena before swiping second.
The Hawks tacked on runs in the sixth inning as Dallas Trevena collected his third hit of the contest with a single to left. Tyler West tripled to right center to plate a run. Patrick Krack drew a walk before swiping another bag. Emanuel Betancourt and Ryan Bellamy produced RBI at-bats to lead 9-1.
Justin Winslow hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth to push the lead to 10-1.
MACU strung a few hits together in the bottom of the eighth to close the gap to 10-3 before the Hawks rallied to plate four runs off three hits and an error in the top of the ninth to lead 14-3. Ethan Whelan reached on an infield single before Ty Johnson doubled and Dallas Trevena drew a walk to load the bases. The Hawks would plate a run on a wild pitch before Noah Cartwright added a sacrifice fly to finish off the scoring.
