WILSON, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball dropped a pair of contests against Barton to open up the Conference Carolinas schedule on Saturday on the road.

Emanuel Betancourt paced the offense with four hits and two RBI. Patrick Krack and Noah Evington picked up three hits apiece.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 0, Barton 5
Chowan looked to put the first run on the board in the top of the second inning as Emanuel Betancourt picked up a single but was thrown out at second. Ethan Robinson reached on an error before getting thrown out at the plate on Patrick Krack's double to center.
Barton took advantage of an error to plate three runs in the second to lead 3-0. The Bulldogs added a run in the fourth inning to lead 4-0.
Ethan Robinson led off the fifth with a single and Patrick Krack was hit-by-a-pitch to put a runner in scoring position. Robinson would move up 90 feet on a fly out before being left stranded.
Barton hit a solo home run in the sixth for the final tally in the first game, 5-0.
Game Two: Chowan 9, Barton 16
The Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Dallas Trevena doubled to start the inning. Tyler West singled to right before swiping second. Emanuel Betancourt singled up the middle to plate the pair for the opening runs of the contest.
Barton countered with a seven run frame in the bottom half of the inning to lead 7-2.
Chowan chipped away at the deficit in the second with a RBI single by Noah Evington to score Justin Winslow, reached on an infield single after a walk by Carrington Williams.
The Bulldogs tacked on four runs in the bottom of the second to lead 11-3.
Emanuel Betancourt sparked a rally in the third with a single. Patrick Krack posted a one-out single before an error allowed Betancourt to score. Carrington Williams singled up the middle to plate another run to cut the deficit to 11-5.
Barton plated three runs in the seventh inning to stretch their lead to 14-5. The Bulldogs posted two runs in the eight to lead 16-5.
In the ninth inning, Ryan Bellamy started the inning with a walk before Joshua James singled to center before both moved up on a passed ball. Jackson Dunlap singled to plate Bellamy before James scored on a wild pitch following the Carrington Williams walk. Noah Cartwright drew a walk to load the bases as Dallas Trevena produced a sac fly and Noah Evington doubled to close the gap to 16-9.
