SALEM, VA. – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced on Friday their 2022 Football All-Conference and Superlatives voted on by the association's head coaches and athletic communicators.
Chowan, representing the Northern Division for the first time in program history, posted 12 student-athletes on the All-CIAA list with three First Team selections, six Second Team selections, and three All-Rookie selections. The 12 student-athletes represented are the most in program history topping the 2018 and 2021 season of 11 student-athletes.
Representing the Hawks on the First Team are: Dallas Caporaletti (OL), Raydarius Freeman (DL) and Montre Moore (LB).
Dallas Caporaletti, Catlett, Va. native, was named First Team Offensive Line after leading the Hawks to the third ranked rushing offense in the CIAA. Caporaletti is the sixth offensive lineman for Chowan to be named First Team.
Receiving First Team honors for the first time in his career, Raydarius Freeman, led the CIAA in tackles for loss (17.5) while adding 52.0 tackles and 5.0 sacks. Freeman marks the third defensive lineman to be named First Team in program history.
After a stellar season as the quarterback of the defense, Montre Moore was selected on the First Team. Moore is the first linebacker to be named First Team in program history. The San Bernardino, Calif. native is the first player in the CIAA since the 2015 season (Moses White, Shaw) to post 100 tackles in a single season. Moore also posted 13.5 TFLs, 6.0 sacks, and a defensive touchdown.
Earning Second Team All-CIAA were: Daniel Horne (OL), David Keck (OL), Malik Tobias (WR), Jamae Blank (DL), Simeon Burns (DB), and Kmare Carey (DB).
Daniel Horne and David Keck helped lead the Hawks to the third best rushing offense in the CIAA with 170.6 rushing yards per game.
Malik Tobias led the Hawks' receivers with 473 yards and six touchdowns. Jamae Blank was second on the team in tackles with 62.0 tackles and 15.5 TFLs.
In the secondary, Simeon Burns and Kmare Carey tallied nine of the 14 interceptions. Burns posted 43.0 tackles and four interceptions, while Carey tallied 44.0 tackles, five interceptions and two blocked kicks.
Rounding out the selections were: Caleb Pierce (QB), Jordaan Bailey (WR), and Traevon Mitchell (DL) on the All-Rookie Team.
