CU Women's Soccer Hosts Limestone In Home Opener

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team will look to rebound after their season opening loss to nationally-ranked Concord with a match against former league foe, Limestone, at home on Thursday.

HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS

Chowan is coming off a 3-1 loss on the road to #14 Concord over the weekend.  The Hawks will look to continue their momentum at home after going 6-0-0 last season.

Carolina Lucci leads the team with the lone goal from the season opener.  Lucci sits 12 goals off the program all-time goals record with 40 goals.

Sierra Gonzalez leads the team with an assist.  Allison Traub posted eight saves in goal.

HALTING THE MARCHING SAINTS

Limestone, now a member of the South Atlantic Conference, is 2-0-0 on the season with a pair of shutouts while outscoring their opponents 9-0.

Alecia Simmons paces the Saints with two goals.  Seven other Saints have tallied one goal.  Tabea Schutt leads the team with three assists.

Katie Maher has registered six saves on nine shots with 1.5 shutouts.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE CAROLINAS

Conference Carolinas has a rich tradition in roots that dates back to its inception on Dec. 6, 1930. The NCAA Division II athletics conference presently has member schools located in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Member institutions for the upcoming 2021-22 athletic year are Barton, Belmont Abbey, Chowan, Converse, Emmanuel, Erskine, Francis Marion, King, Lees-McRae, Mount Olive, North Greenville, Southern Wesleyan and UNC Pembroke.
