MURFREESBORO, N.C. –The Chowan University women's soccer team opened conference play Saturday afternoon against Francis Marion University at Hawks Soccer Field. Sophomore Amy Cotton put the Hawks on the scoreboard late in the match after receiving a pass from Carolina Tarkington, scoring her second goal of the season in the 77th minute. Chowan would ultimately fall 6-1 to the Patriots.

Cotton led the Hawks offensively with four shots, including one on goal, while also recording her second goal of the season. Aubrey Scott added a shot and a shot on goal, while Maya Schofield recorded one shot.
Madison Richardson played all 90 minutes in goal for Chowan, making 14 saves.
