MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan women's soccer team opened their home schedule on Wednesday afternoon against USC Beaufort at Hawks Soccer Field. The Hawks battled throughout the contest, with freshman Denisse Jorge-Garcia finding the back of the net in the 58th minute for her first collegiate goal. Jorge-Garcia received a pass from Ellis Baxter before finishing the opportunity to put Chowan on the board.
The Hawks stayed on the attack throughout the remainder of the contest, as USC Beaufort would ultimately pull away for the win.

Jorge-Garcia led the Hawks with the lone goal of the afternoon, while Baxter recorded the assist. Riley Donnelly and Caroline Tankersley each registered a shot on goal, while Amy Cotton and Laura Hulme added a shot apiece.
Kylee Smith played the first 65 minutes in goal and recorded three saves. Madison Richardson finished the contest, making three saves to give the Hawks six saves as a team.

Chowan returns to Hawks Soccer Field on Saturday, September 5, to host Francis Marion in the Hawks' conference opener. Kickoff is set for a 4:30 PM start time.
