CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) released on Monday the Food Lion Football Weekly Honors for Week Three.
The Hawks picked up three weekly honors after a strong performance against Erskine to move to 3-0 on the season.
Chowan, leading the CIAA in points per game at 41.7 scored 49 points over the weekend. Bryce Witt, CIAA Quarterback of the Week, leads the CIAA in passing yards per game (303.3) and 11 touchdowns after throwing for 405 yards and a school record seven touchdowns against Erskine in three quarters of play.
Imeek Watkins was Witt's go-to receiver in the redzone hauling in four touchdowns for 64 yards on five receptions. The four touchdowns are the most by a non-quarterback this season in the CIAA.
Defensively, Rafiq Abdul-Wahid wreaked havoc on the Erskine offensive front with five tackles and 2.5 sacks. Abdul-Wahid also posted a forced fumble and a quarterback hurry. Abdul-Wahid leads the CIAA with 4.5 sacks this season.
Notables for the Hawks:
Laurence King produced his second straight 100-yard receiving outing. Montre Moore led the Hawks with 10 tackles. Simeon Burns posted eight tackles and a tipped pass that led to an interception.
Gilberto Ortiz and Isaac Anderson notched two sacks. The Chowan offensive line did not allow a sack.
