HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
Chowan enters the contest with a 1-2 start to the 2019 season and comes off a loss to Catawba on Saturday evening.
Sydney Hiner and Anixa Rosa-Martinez lead the Hawks offensively with 24 and 22 kills respectively. Ciara Ortega has produced 47 assists on the season, with Alexa Woolson recording 27 assists.
Katie Houston leads the team with 42 digs, Anixa Rosa-Martinez has 37 digs on the season. Ann-Marie Johnson has recorded 10 blocks on the year.
STOPPING THE TROJANS
Virginia State is 2-6 on the season and comes off a win against Christian Brothers that snapped a six match losing streak.
Jailyn Ivey leads the team with 64 kills, while Kennedi Cannon has produced 49. Bria Anderson has notched 129 assists. Deja Lester has 17.0 total blocks on the season.
IN THE SERIES
Chowan holds the series advantage 21-11 from their meetings with Virginia State in the CIAA Northern Division. VSU took the last meeting between the two in October of 2019 in Murfreesboro.
