Every month throughout the calendar year, Chowan Athletics will be highlighting student-athletes in the new series FEATURED HAWKS to help student-athletes tell their story.
WORDS TO LIVE BY:
"Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." It is always a quote that I have lived by because one of my favorite club coaches told us that and it has stuck with me ever since and I always strive to put in 110% into practices or anything I do.
WHAT COURSE HAVE YOU TAKEN AT CHOWAN THAT HAS INSPIRED YOU?
Theory of Coaching taught by Jim Hammond has been an inspirational course. I want to coach in the future so his class gives me motivation to want to do it even more and it is quite helpful and I have learned a lot already from him and how to be a great coach.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF PLAYING SOCCER?
I enjoy hanging out with my friends and teammates outside of soccer. It's always nice to be surrounded by people who can make me laugh and inspire me to be a better person.
HOW HAVE YOU MADE THE CU COMMUNITY YOURS?
I try to attend as many events on campus as possible to meet new people and create new experiences with already existing friends.
HOW DO YOU SEE YOURSELF FIVE YEARS AFTER GRADUATION?
I see myself in one of two positions. I see myself still continuing to play soccer professionally or I see myself as a goalkeeper coach for a club team or a college out in Seattle.
WHAT IS A SUCCESS STORY YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED AT CHOWAN?
My success story would be my ability to constantly keep coming back after setbacks in soccer. I have been struggling with the same injury for two years now and I haven't let it get the best of me and I will never let it get the best of me. I have a team that is beyond supportive, loving and understanding and they are a big part of why I keep trying and staying in the game.
WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE CHOWAN?
I enjoy how small the campus is and how friendly everyone is here. They ability to be able to get to know my professors is also another reason why I choose to come here.
