HAWKS PROFILE
Chowan enters the contest with a 3-7 overall record and a 3-4 mark in the CIAA after finishing 1-2 at the second CIAA Round Up last weekend.
Kayla Gates leads the Hawks with 69 kills on the season after producing a career-high 18 kills in the win over Livingstone. Micayla Pope has 238 assists on the season, while Alyssa Born paces the team with 140 digs.
TROJAN TRIALS
Virginia State hosts the Hawks with a 12-5 overall record and a 7-2 mark in CIAA action. The Trojans are 11-4 at home this season. VSU is 2-0 in the Northern division defeating Virginia Union and Bowie State in straight sets.
The Trojans have three players with over 100 kills so far this season as Jailyn Ivey leads the team with 146 kills. Tiara Ramey and Kennedi Cannon post 102 and 100 kills respectively.
SERIES HISTORY
Chowan and Virginia State will meet for the 26th time in the series and first time this season. The Hawks lead the overall series 20-5 but the Trojans have bested the Hawks in Petersburg as of late winning three of the last five meetings.
