WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Chowan Volleyball team was unable to put the finishing touches on the opening match of the CIAA Round Up II hosted by Winston-Salem State on Friday evening, as the Hawks dropped a tough fought match against the Rams 3-2.

Chowan would take the opening set 25-19 before falling 25-21 in the second set.

The back-and-forth match continued as Chowan won 25-21 to take a 2-1 set advantage.

After a late run to narrow the gap, Chowan was unable to put the match away as WSSU took the fourth set 25-21.

Chowan and Winston-Salem State swapped points in the decisive fifth set as the Rams led 9-8 at the change-over.  The Rams would take the set and match with a 15-11 decision.
